Speaker test — left, right & stereo
Free online speaker test. Play tones through the left, right or both channels and run a stereo sweep to check balance, wiring and whether a speaker is dead.
Pick a test below. Use headphones or stereo speakers for the clearest result.
What the test tells you
- Left / Right: confirms each channel produces sound and is wired to the correct side.
- Both: checks the two channels are balanced at the same volume.
- Stereo sweep: the tone should glide smoothly from left to right — useful for spotting a weak or crackling side.
If one side is muffled or silent, dust or water in the grille is a common cause. Try the water eject or speaker cleaner first before assuming hardware failure.
Frequently asked questions
How do I test my speakers online?
Use the test above: press Left, Right or Both to play a 440 Hz tone through that channel, or run the stereo sweep to hear the sound move from left to right. If a side is silent or much quieter, that channel has a problem.
Why does only one speaker play?
A dead channel can mean a loose connection, an unbalanced audio setting, a faulty cable, or debris blocking the grille. Check your balance setting first, then try the speaker cleaner to clear any dust or water.
Should I use headphones?
Headphones make the left/right test clearest. On a phone or laptop with closely spaced speakers the stereo separation is smaller, but the test still confirms both channels produce sound.
